Want to Look Like Lara Croft? Get Tomb Raider Fit with Strength Training and Good Nutrition!

Do you want to look and feel strong like the star of next year's new Tomb Raider movie? Keep reading to learn how its leading lady used personal training, weightlifting, and individualized nutrition guidance to get into tip top muscular fighting shape! Tomb Raider is one of the most iconic video game and recent movie franchises of all time. Leading lady Lara Croft has to be lean, strong, muscular, and fearless to fight every tomb thrown her way. The newest installment in the Tomb Raider film series is set for release on March 16, 2018 and stars Oscar winning actress Alicia Vikander as Croft. Vikander trained hard for the role and, with the help of a personal trainer, used consistent weightlifting to build the muscle, strength, and bravery she needed to play the iconic character.

An active lifestyle helped Vikander be ready to start heavy strength training for her Tomb Raider role. Vikander trained in ballet for many years at the Royal Swedish Ballet School and was promoted to principal dancer by age 15. Although her dance career was cut short due to injuries, Vikander needed to add muscle to her ballerina frame to portray the role of Lara Croft effectively. And this is where her "Tomb Raider Fit" training began.

According to Self Magazine, Vikander worked with a personal trainer to develop a training program that consisted of three essential elements: exercise, good nutrition, and sports psychology. Vikander's exercise focused primarily on lifting weights to build lean muscle so she would look strong and "tomb raider fit." She received a personalized nutrition plan that was specifically designed to help her build muscle and enhance her metabolism. Sports psychology helped her overcome any fears involved in doing the highly physical stunts in the film.

Since lasting results take time, Vikander worked with her trainer for 4 months before filming started. She lifted heavy 5-6 days a week, climbed 2-3 days a week to specifically build upper body strength for the film, and did Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for 4 days to train her combat skills. Her nutrition plan was adjusted appropriately to meet her calorie, protein, and carbohydrate needs as her training regimen increased.

Vikander's transformation is proof that sound, personalized strength training and nutrition - combined with dedication and consistency - WORK to help women achieve the lean, muscular physique coveted by so many. Lifting weights and eating more does NOT make women "bulky" (females do not have enough testosterone for that to happen). With the proper guidance, strength training, individualized nutrition, and specific exercises for your needs will help you reach your physique and performance goals.
