Gabbi Berkow, MA, RD, CDN, CPT, is a Registered Dietitian, exercise physiologist, certified personal trainer, Pilates instructor, and dancer who has a unique capacity to blend nutrition and fitness services using academic expertise, extensive passion, and personal experience.
Gabbi holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Columbia University and completed her nutrition training through New York University's renowned graduate program in Clinical Nutrition. Gabbi attended Goucher College on a full tuition merit scholarship, where she created an individualized major that integrated exercise science, nutrition, physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, psychology, and dance. She has received a variety of honors and awards, including induction into , early induction into Phi Beta Kappa, the Les Dames d'Escoffier Women in Nutrition award, Phi Beta Kappa research awards, awards from the National Dance Association, and merit scholarships for every one of her academic programs.
Gabbi’s nutrition and exercise expertise have been featured in a variety of media publications, including The Donna Drake Television Show, Women’s Health Magazine, Pop Sugar, The Huffington Post, Fitness Magazine, Today’s Dietitian, DailyMail.com, Pilates Style Magazine, Spartan Race Magazine, ABM/FM Radio, and Exercisejobs.com. Personal Training: As an exercise physiologist and certified personal trainer, Gabbi has worked in a variety of settings with clients spanning a diverse array of ages, fitness levels, and body types. She has also trained individuals with many different injuries and special needs. Gabbi utilizes her extensive studies of the human body and exercise science to design sound, individualized exercise programs that help clients achieve their goals while correcting muscular imbalances to minimize injury risk. She also helps clients develop exercise habits that promote lifelong fitness so that they can move well and move often for optimal health and vitality. Pilates: Gabbi has over a decade of experience in Pilates, a dynamic mind-body method of exercise that focuses on core strength, alignment, posture, and balance throughout the body. Pilates is excellent for strengthening the core (abdominals, lower back, and glutes), reducing lower back pain, improving posture and alignment, correcting imbalances, enhancing body awareness, and rehabilitating injuries. Gabbi used Pilates to overcome imbalances created by her scoliosis (curvature of the spine), and wanted to use her experience with Pilates to impart its benefits to others. Gabbi completed a 600+ hour classical Pilates apparatus and mat certification through Romana’s Pilates, studying at the flagship studio True Pilates NY with world-renowned instructors. Dancer Wellness: A lifelong dancer, Gabbi also specializes in dancer wellness, or the application of nutrition and exercise science principles to help dancers optimize their health and performance.
